Underfloor Heating

3d Underfloor Heating systems - What they do and how they work.

3D Underfloor Heating’s systems can be installed in two basic forms: warm water underfloor heating and electric cable underfloor heating. Variants of these systems can be installed into practically any available floor construction in any commercial, industrial or domestic application and 3D will always be happy to offer our expert advice on the best fit system for your particular application.

3D Underfloor Heating use only the best materials available in installing these systems and we source all our system components and zone controls only from the market-leading quality assured systems manufacturers.

Warm Water Underfloor Heating
This type of underfloor heating utilises extremely robust temperature resistant plastic pipes which carry low temperature hot water in a network of loops through the heated floor areas. These pipes can be installed into solid floor slabs or screeds, heat transmission plates for timber-built floors or into a variety of different ’carrier’ boards for different types of floor build up.

Electric Underfloor Heating
This type of underfloor heating utilises sheathed heating cables which can be installed as cable coils or mat-based systems, depending on heating outputs required and eventual floor coverings to be used. These systems can go into screeded floors, timber floors and in adhesive layers under tiles, etc.

Both of these systems are designed to produce a radiant-heated zone of comfortable temperature which extends from the floor to a normal ceiling height of around 8 feet. This makes them particularly energy efficient because they are not heating and circulating air into unoccupied high ceiling voids and roof spaces. Furthermore, for pipe systems, utilising the whole of the floor space as a heat transmitter allows heat to be generated using much lower water temperatures than radiators, which, again, is extremely energy efficient.

Temperature Profiles

Operating at such reduced water flow temperatures allows wet underfloor heating systems to be linked very succesfully to energy saving heat sources such as ground source heat pumps, creating much enhanced energy efficiency. 3D also offer supply and installation of these systems, as mentioned below, in tandem with our underfloor heating systems and will be happy to discuss any requirements you may have.

With all the above systems, 3D will offer expert guidance on the design and installation in order to create the best installation for your requirements.
